The design of the rig was an important and carefully designed aspect of S/Y Tossan. The main objective was an easy-to-sail setup where one person could maneuver the boat, including all the aspects of sailing. S/Y Tossan has seen three different rigs until today, from experimental wingsails, to junk rigs, to today’s conventional rig. The first two were created by own design but didn’t meet the expected performance and simplicity to sail with and was therefore replaced.

- Rig is prepared for additional sails if the number of sails are to be expanded.
